Creation vs. Evolution: Part 3- The Dinosaur Debate

__________________________________________________________________________________
Z: In these next four paragraphs I will cover topics that have everything to do with how the world was created and the aftermath.

Dinosaurs:

Some of the most interesting animals to ever walk the earth—for about perhaps 2,000 years, if you believe what the Bible says literally. God created all reptiles on the fifth “day” then he killed them off in the flood, many literal creationists say. But, in the encyclopedia, it says that they ruled the earth for about 140 million years.

How do you know what the encyclopedia says is true? Here are four questions to apply to any argument: (1 What exactly do you mean? Please make yourself very clear. (2 How do you know that what you’re saying is true? What evidence do you have? (3 What are the implications if you are right? How will this affect our lives today? (4 What are the implications if you’re wrong? Would this affect us? These are very good questions to use on many of these claims. And literal creationists don’t say that God killed off the dinosaurs in the Flood. He told Noah to take two of every kind of animal on the ark. This would include dinosaurs. However, the earth was drastically changed after the Flood, and probably most of the dinosaurs were unable to survive because of the changes.

Besides, as Christians, should we believe what the Bible, written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, has to say about this issue, or what the encyclopedia, written by sinful men (who in many cases are atheists) says about it?

Now, if you were to take this as untrue, what would you do with the problem that humans and Dinosaurs were coexisting. Doesn’t it seem that for humans to still be alive, for dinosaurs to have either lived at a different time period than humans (goes along with the evolutionary view) or whenever a hungry dino saw a human, God intervened and saved the human? However, if we took the evolutionary view that Dinos and humans lived millions of years apart, doesn’t it make sense that we are still on this earth than having been passed through a dinos digestive system.

There is no problem with dinosaurs and humans coexisting. I firmly believe that dinosaurs and humans did live at the same time. And no, I don’t think that God intervened every time that a T-Rex got hungry. However, if we wouldn’t be here if humans had lived with dinosaurs, then would any other critter be here either? Even according to evolution there were other animals on the earth with dinosaurs. If man hadn’t sinned, then the dinos wouldn’t want to eat man anyway, because God said that all animals were to be herbivores.
Also, what do you do with the red blood cells found in dinosaur bones? You might not have even heard about it, because the “big scientists” don’t want people to hear about this. Why? Because red blood cells could never survive for 45 million years or more, even frozen in a lab. They could quite possibly survive for several thousand years though, and this would fit the biblical time frame. Also, the bones in which the cells were found, were not completely fossilized! Mary Schweitzer, a scientist from Montana, discovered red blood cells in a T-Rex bone that was supposedly 68 million years old. She was advised to find evidence to show that the cells weren’t really cells though. Why? Because this would mess up the evolutionary theory about dinosaurs. Evolutionary scientists have tried to discredit her work because this poses such a problem. They say that the tissue which was found was not intact. This is probably true. But it is still unfossilized tissue, and it still has red blood cells. It would be utterly impossible for these substances to have survived for 68 million years.
(Source: http://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/dinosaur.html Near the bottom of the first page it gives a quote from Schweitzer's mentor ““When she first found the red-blood-cell-looking structures, I said, Yep, that’s what they look like,” her mentor recalls. He thought it was possible they were red blood cells, but he gave her some advice: “Now see if you can find some evidence to show that that’s not what they are.” )

Also, there are traditions around the globe about people and huge creatures that fit the description of dinosaurs. Here’s an interesting thought: We hear about dragons all over the place. They are generally described as huge reptiles that in most cases eat meat. There are stories about great battles with them that date back thousands of years. There are also pictures on walls, pottery and in caves, of people and “dragons”. The interesting thing is that the older the picture is, the more it looks like one or another type of dinosaur. The word “dinosaur” wasn’t invented until 1841 by Richard Owen. What if the old word for “dinosaur” was actually “dragon”?
Then there are the figurines of animals that look exactly like dinosaurs that have been found all over the place, including New Mexico. At times, thousands of figurines have been uncovered, and many of these looked like several different types of dinosaur. How can we ignore these things? I don’t think it’s likely that ancient American Indians were paleontologists, and that these figurines were their artists representations. They must have seen dinosaurs to know how to make these things look. If it was only at one site, or area that a few of these had been found, it could have been that they were figures out of religious legends or something, but they and the paintings, drawings, etc. have been found worldwide
and look similar.
Of course, some of the most important evidence for them coexisting is in the book of Job where God talks about the Leviathan and Behemoth. These creatures sound exactly like dinosaurs. Some evolutionists who say that they believe the Bible have attempted to explain this away by saying that these animals must have been a crocodile and elephant, respectively. Well, listen to this: (Job 40:15-24) “Look now at the behemoth, which I made along with you; he eats grass like an ox. See now his strength is in his hips, and his power is in his stomach muscles.” (Pay attention to this next part.) “He moves his tail like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are tightly knit. His bones are like beams of bronze, his ribs like bars of iron.” (Further down.) “Indeed the river may rage, yet he is confident, though the Jordan gushes into his mouth, though he takes it in his eyes, or one pierces his nose with a snare.”
Now no one in their right mind would describe an elephant’s tail as being “like a cedar”. Also, the raging Jordan would make even an elephant a little nervous, but a dinosaur, say, a brontosaurus would probably think that it was a nice little massage for his especial benefit. Job is believed to have lived sometime soon after the Flood, probably within 200 years of it. The Bible says that Noah lived 350 years after the Flood, so even if Job never saw a dinosaur, he would still know what God was talking about because he most likely knew Noah, and would have heard about them from him or his sons.

Then there is the leviathan: (Job 41) “Can you draw out Leviathan with a hook? Or snare his tongue with a line which you lower? Can you put a reed through his nose, or pierce his jaw with a hook? Will he make supplications to you?... Can you fill his skin with harpoons, or his head with fishing spears? Lay your hand on him; remember the battle- never do it again! Indeed, any hope of overcoming him is false; shall one not be overwhelmed at the site of him? No one is so fierce that he would dare to stir him up... I will not conceal his limbs, his mighty power, or his graceful proportions. Who can remove his outer coat?... Who can open the doors of his face, with his terrible teeth all around? His rows of scales are his pride, shut up tightly as with a seal; one is so near another that no air can come between them;... they stick together and cannot be parted. His sneezings flash forth light... out of his mouth go burning lights; sparks of fire shoot out. Smoke goes out of his nostrils, as from a boiling pot and burning rushes.... When he raises himself up, the mighty are afraid; because of his crashing they are beside themselves... He regards iron as straw, and bronze as rotten wood. The arrow cannot make him flee;... His undersides are like sharp potsherds; he spreads pointed marks in the mire. He makes the deep boil like a pot... One would think the deep had white hair. On earth there is nothing like him, which is made without fear. He beholds every high thing; he is king over all the children of pride.” (Emphasis mine.)

To me this sounds like a much larger and fiercer animal than a crocodile. And crocodiles don’t shoot fire out of their mouths. This may sound ridiculous, but scientists have found evidence that some dinosaurs might have had the ability to spit fire.

  1. Great article :) one of my favorite topics. I do believe some dragons/dinosaurs could "breathe/spit" fire but I am not sure I agree with the Scientists that tried to proclaim it. The discussion I heard regarding this was a Parasaralophus. A type of Lambeosaur or better known as a variety of Duck-billed dinosaur. There were two theories on the "head piece" on this dino and one was that it was a chamber for vocalization and the other was as a chamber to make fire chemicals, like a Bombadier beetle would. Anyway, all of it at this point is based on speculation of course because no one has ever seen any of these dinos alive. They did find some mummified Hadrosaurs (Duck-billed dinos) a while back, but they did not have the head piece/chamber. It is very interesting to me and I can't wait to find out what they are really for and which Dino/Dragon is the fire-breather! :)

    1. Thank you for your comment! This is really intriguing issue, and I hope that as more evidence is found, it will be used increasingly for the glory of God, and not to promote the atheist worldview of evolution.
