An Unexpected Turn of Events...

Yesterday morning, we had no idea that some of us would be in Shands hospital until 10:45 that night.  Neither did we have any idea that a long standing record for no broken limbs was about to depart from our family.

LilyAnn and William were on our tandem bike, racing the van to the house, at about 1:45 yesterday afternoon.  All went smoothly until they turned into our driveway.  They had a little too much speed on the bike, and it flipped, dumping them both onto the limerock road.  Neither one knows quite what happened, but apparently the bicycle, which is a heavy two-seater, fell on William, and twisted his arm.  As soon as he looked down and saw that it was now in an "S" shape, he knew it was broken, and so did Mama.  She called me to hop in the van, and we took off to meet Daddy in Bronson.  There we changed vehicles and Daddy and I took him in to Shands in the car, while Mama went home.

Waiting...

Later, LilyAnn also came to the hospital, as her arm was hurting quite a bit (and when LilyAnn says her arm hurts, it really does!)  To our relief, an X-ray showed that she only has a fairly minor strain.
We didn't leave the hospital until late at night, but it was so good to see his arm straight and in a cast, instead of severely crooked!  The nurses and doctors were all so kind and encouraging, and William had a great attitude, and was very calm.  The Lord really gave him (and us!) peace through the whole ordeal, and it looks like his arm will heal back just "as good as new!"
Taking a much-needed nap after getting in bed at midnight.
In the meantime...
I will be doing a lot more goat chores!  In fact, I may even train a few more milkers...
And in future, I'm not going to let both my milkers ride on the same bike!
(Just kidding!)

And we know, that ALL things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose...

  1. Oh wow! Those poor dears. I'll be praying for a swift recovery for both of them! Love and miss y'all!
