Congratulations Evan!

Well, Evan is officially done with high school!  He graduated, along with four other young people from our church last Lord's Day, May 5th, 2013.  We are so happy for him as he enters this new phase of his life.  His speech was an encouragement to all of us, and I am realizing more and more how blessed I am to have him as a brother.  We love you Evan!

Below are some pictures of the ceremony and reception.

Pastor Harding did not actually preach during the ceremony, but he opened, and closed it.

A lovely music special:  "Christ Liveth In Me".
Another beautiful music special.  Charity (center) is one of the graduates, and is singing with her father, sister, and mother (on the piano, not in picture).

Farrah and I played violin in this special.  I won't say I was scared to death, which would be an exaggeration since I'm still alive, but it sure felt like I wasn't far from it.  I've played in specials before (though not at our church), so I'm not sure why I was so scared...

Charity played the piano with us.  I'm sure that with 5 violins and her beautiful performance on the piano our special sounded great, but I was focusing so hard on my part that I sort of missed hearing it all together!

And then the graduates each gave a short (or long) speech.  Evan's was the longest, at 10 minutes.

Pastor Pappas came over from Jacksonville to preach during the ceremony.  His message was out of James- "Love not the world, neither the things of the world..."
Mama and Daddy presented the diploma, after saying a few words about Evan, our home-schooling, and how God has helped them so much, since they didn't know anything about raising children when they started.  Glory to God!

After the ceremony, we all went to the reception in the fellowship hall next door.

And finally, I think this was a very appropriate verse to put on the cake (which was delicious!)
For a different perspective, check out this blog post by Charity, one of the other graduates and a dear friend (it's much better than mine!)

  1. It seems as if ya'll had a truly blessed time celebrating the completion of Evan's school years... delighting in the Lord and filling your hearts with His praise and truth.
May your brother continue to serve the Lord in the new paths that He shall lead him in.
    Blessings,
    ~Shannon~
