A Blog Post That is Only About Our Family and Life

Warning:
This blog post relates strictly to our family life for the last couple weeks and has no book recommendations or apologetic discussions whatsoever.
:D

I am not very good at updating the blog about what has been going on in our family (as you have probably all noticed!)  So...  now that I have a few free minutes, I will try to share some pictures.

August 21st, 2017 Solar Eclipse

Although the eclipse didn't affect us much down here, we still had a great time viewing it through Bo's welding helmet and convincing ourselves that it was getting quite dark outside.  :)

I don't think Anna Frances had much of an idea what an eclipse was, but she did explain the basic reason to me:
"Alayna, when God made the sun He said, 'Let there be light', and there was light. When there's an eclipse, He said, 'Let it get dark!', and it is dark."

Bo took this unusual opportunity to fly one of his RC wings above the clouds. Unfortunately, he lost control and it crashed several miles away, so he and I spent an hour or so looking for it that afternoon, but never did find it.  Someone might eventually return it (that happened with a hexacopter that flew away and crashed).  I certainly hope he gets it back.

Russell, the mobile astronomer.

View of the sun through the welding helmet.  It was much clearer in person.

Animals

Yes, I really am going to inflict some animal pictures on my readers...  Sorry, folks.

We had the opportunity to care for another family's farm while they were on a short vacation.  It was quite the experience milking 12 goats and 2 cows twice a day for 6 days.  It was exhausting, but fun too.

This is one of their cats...  He was hilarious!  (Unfortunately for himself, he insisted on trying to steal the milk out of the strainers, so he had to go to jail for robbery (in other words, get locked up in a crate.)

Fiona and Cleone, my two female Border collies.  Fiona is about 10 weeks old in this picture, Cleone is 2 years old.

 Yeehaw! Ride 'er, Chauncey!
Well, he might have gotten further if he had focused on his riding instead of clawing at the saddle pad under the horn...

Watching the neighbor's turkey strutting his stuff.

This is a 4 day old puppy, not a rat or piglet, I promise!
The same puppy at 4 weeks of age.

Time with Friends and Family

"Personalized, friendly taxi service!"

"Please keep all body parts within the taxi while we are in motion."

"You still back there?"

"Zzzzz...."

Bo and Justice trying out my new lightweight saddle.  You'll have to get Bo's opinion on whether it really is lightweight or just marketed as such.

Trying out Nathan's gloves and mask.

Frankie the intern...

Adios!
